Asuka officially passed Goldberg for the longest undefeated streak in WWE history

NXT Women’s champion Asuka hasn’t been pinned or submitted since joining WWE in 2015. Back in February of this year, she, Goldberg and the company began calling attention to her streak in relation to his legendary WCW one. So we here at Cageside Seats decided to follow along.

By our count, the Empress of Tomorrow broke Bill G’s WWE-acknowledged 1997 - 1998 streak more than a week ago, and her run hit 177 matches when she pinned Nikki Cross & Ruby Riot this past Saturday at TakeOver: Chicago... but none of the principals had mentioned it. Creative liberties have been taken with Asuka’s total, as they were with Goldberg’s, so until she or WWE said something, we didn’t know what the “official” story was.

Earlier tonight (May 24), Asuka said something...

Now we can officially say CONGRATULATIONS to Asuka!

And I guess we keep counting...
