When Jinder Mahal won the WWE championship from Randy Orton at Backlash this past Sunday night, we knew it wouldn’t be long before The Viper would be demanding a rematch. Sure enough, Shane McMahon opened this week’s episode of SmackDown Live revealing exactly when that will be.
Orton will challenge for the title at the upcoming Money in the Bank pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Sun., June 18, 2017, at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Yes, that’s his hometown.
Let the speculation run rampant that this means he won’t be winning the title back, considering how WWE tends to book its performers in their hometowns.
This comes after the company already announced he would be challenging for it on the June 13 episode of SmackDown Live in New Orleans, the go home episode to Money in the Bank. Perhaps that will be a dark match?
Either way, we now know the main event of the next WWE SmackDown PPV, the same as the last one.
