Elias Samson Update: The End of the Drift

On May 22, we learned Elias Samson is not destined to drift forever.

His latest interaction with Raw General Manager Kurt Angle led to his first official match as a member of the red brand. So, our dreams of the straggling strummer as a persistent backstage extra and instrumental accompaniment to our Monday night wrestling viewing are no more.

Alas. We did get almost a full song out of it, though...

The Grandest of Rapids has washed in
discarded driftwood named Elias Samson
Now that you all have begun to hear my song
It’s time - the end has finally come along
So tonight, you can say goodbye
to the Lunatic on his last night
What it needs is what I am...

And he did win his debut match, technically, as Miz tied things in to the story of his Extreme Rules showdown with Dean Ambrose (where the Intercontinental champ can lose his title if he wins by disqualification) when he attacked Samson to trigger the DQ against the Lunatic Fringe...

More matches mean more opportunities to hear Corey Graves freak out about how much he hates his fellow Pittsburgher, but as Elias sang... The Drifter has washed in.

It was fun while it lasted.
