Because WrestleMania 34 is taking place in New Orleans next year, WWE is making a big deal of the last event they have booked for the city before taking it over for WrestleMania Week in 2018. That includes booking three matches for the show, two of them for titles.
They are:
- Jinder Mahal vs. Randy Orton (WWE championship)
- Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles (US championship)
- Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Dolph Ziggler
So, essentially, they’re just running back the Backlash card but on television instead of the Network, only this time Mahal is WWE champion. That’s assuming Orton doesn’t get a rematch and win the title back before then.
They have three episodes of SmackDown Live to work through until this one, so we’ll see what happens.
