There’s no injury update on Johnny Gargano because he’s too heartbroken to talk to doctors

We saw Johnny Gargano leave Allstate Arena on a stretcher Saturday night after NXT TakeOver: Chicago closed with his #DIY tag partner and best friend Tommaso Ciampa turning on him in brutal fashion.

Normally, when WWE shows somebody being loaded into an ambulance strapped to a backboard and wearing a neck brace, they issue an injury update soon after. In Johnny Wrestling’s case, that took a little longer than normal. And even when it came, it was incomplete.

The reason? Gargano is too heartbroken to talk to the medical team. From WWE.com’s story on his condition:

Johnny Gargano is believed to be suffering from neck and back problems as a result of last night’s ambush by his former tag team partner and friend, Tommaso Ciampa, at NXT TakeOver: Chicago, according to WWE.com sources.

The full extent of Gargano’s injuries, however, is currently unknown, as the former NXT Tag Team Champion refuses to talk to anyone following the harrowing aftermath of TakeOver’s Ladder Match main event.

Without Gargano’s consent, doctors cannot release his full medical status, WWE.com confirmed.

With this, and Gargano’s wife Candice LaRae’s statement from yesterday, the kayfabe on this program is off to an amazing start.
