There was only one women’s match on tonight’s (Sun., May 21, 2017) WWE Backlash pay-per-view (PPV) from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois, and that’s because every woman on the roster was involved in it. Indeed, the Welcoming Committee (Natalya, Carmella, Tamina) took on the babyface (?) duo of Naomi, the champion of the division, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte.
The idea going in was it would be unclear if Charlotte could work well with her teammates, considering her with to become champion immediately upon her arrival on the blue brand and who she had to go through to get it. Common enemies bonded the good gals but how well would that bond hold up?
As it turns out, pretty well!
But it didn’t matter.
They went back and forth for some time, culminating in the usual madness to end a six-person tag team match. When everyone else was cleared out, only Natalya and Becky Lynch remained. The former slapped a Sharpshooter on the latter and that was enough to get the tap and the victory for the heel side.
There was no post-match angle either, so it’s unclear where the division goes from here.
