Kevin Owens got his rematch for the United States championship against Chris Jericho on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live in Fresno. He promised to do it for The Rock; to do it for the people.
He did it.
They did their best to outdo the Raw main event from last night, going long and delivering a fine back-and-forth match. This time, Owens managed to get to the rope to break the Walls of Jericho to get him back on his feet.
He used multiple superkicks, a DDT on the floor on the outside, and, ultimately, the Pop-Up Powerbomb to score the pinfall to win the US title back. After, they had medical personnel rush in to tend to Jericho, who was holding his head and neck like he was injured. Owens, seeing this, decided to come back into the ring to deliver yet another Pop-Up Powerbomb.
“You were never my best friend,” he made sure to scream at Jericho.
He walked away only long enough to sell that he was actually gone.
He was not, of course.
When Owens came back down to attack again, he decided to use a chair. He put it over Jericho’s neck and drove him into the post.
