Fans who watch Enzo Amore on Monday Night Raw are aware that the Smacktalker Skywalker is an avid sneakerhead.
So when his pair of Zebra Yeezy 350 V2s disappeared from his checked luggage on an American Airlines flight, he was probably a bit upset. The airline refunded him $1,500 for the lost sneakers but by then, an idea had formed.
“I said, 'American Airlines, I’ll take our money and I know what to do with it.'” he recalled to Sole Collector. “We decided to take the money that American Airlines gave me for my stolen Yeezys and donate it.”
He went on a sneaker shopping spree in his home state of New Jersey and purchased several pairs of retro Air Jordans and Jordan gear. He dropped by the Boys and Girls Club in Newark, New Jersey, which is about 30 minutes from where he grew up. He surprised over a dozen teens with free shoes, apparel and life advice about being yourself, respecting others, and having confidence.
“Kids that make the decision to stay out of the streets and try to influence positivity in the world around them should be rewarded,” Enzo said at the event, which was held in conjunction with WWE’s Be a Star anti-bullying campaign.
He went on to say, “Dreams oftentimes seem unattainable. I always aspired to be a pro wrestler and I just wanted a pair of Jordans as a kid. Now I get to wear a brand new pair of sneakers every week on television. These things come to reality when you work hard and keep a mindset to stay positive and not let outside influences bring you down.”
