WWE SmackDown Live preview (April 4, 2017): Step up

Orlando! Are you sick of WWE yet?

The Headliners

WWE is promising to reveal what’s next for new World champion Randy Orton and the man he defeated at WrestleMania 33 for the title, Bray Wyatt.

But let’s face it. As interested as we might be in how the Viper overcame his fear of maggots to defeat his nemesis, we’re really wondering what’s going on with next week’s “Superstar Shake-Up”... and how a brand who didn’t even have a General Manager until halfway through their latest episode landed one of the greatest tag teams of all time and the best one currently on the planet ahead of said “Shake-Up” while Team Blue got bupkis.

Rumors indicate SmackDown could be the new place where a certain King rests his Strong Style crown, and that that could start as soon as tonight. It’s about time Tuesday nights got a former NXT champ who works before 10PM Eastern, and that guy would be a great start to the shuffle. Will it happen? We’ll be listening for the violins...

The Title Scene

She won back the title she never lost with a big WrestleMania moment, now Women’s champ Naomi has to wonder how many of the five women she competed against - Mickie James, Natalya, Carmella, Becky Lynch and two-time titleholder Alexa Bliss - will be sticking around the blue brand.

He survived a forklift attack and outlasted Baron Corbin at The Ultimate Thrill Ride. Who will Intercontinental champion Dean Ambrose have to face next?’s official preview is calling for a rematch...

Tag champs Jimmy & Jey Uso have to have a chip on their shoulders, along with the rest of the division, seeing as they were relegated to the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at ‘Mania - and didn’t even really factor in the finish. What can they do to grab the spotlight, and keep up with Team Red’s rapidly expanding tag scene?

Other stuff to keep an eye on:

- The Phenomenal One made quite a statement - in story and in real life - with a show-stealing performance this past Sunday in Orlando. Can he write his own ticket from here on out, or did a win against commissioner Shane McMahon just get him a ticket back to Raw?

- John Cena & Nikki Bella are getting married... and probably taking more time off from WWE. Expect Miz & Maryse to point out how their post-victory engagement and impending departures just prove what the A-Listers have been saying all along.

- Mojo Rawley is the fourth man to raise the statue from ‘Mania’s Andre Battle Royal. Will he continue to climb the card, or was that a one-off to get his buddy Gronk to show up at Camping World Stadium?

It’s the WrestleMania 33 fallout show!

What will you be looking for on SmackDown Live tonight?
