Roman Reigns has been out of action for a number of weeks thanks to a vicious attack at the hands of Braun Strowman. He returned tonight (Sun., April 30, 2017) at the SAP Center in San Jose, Califnrnia to main event the WWE Payback pay-per-view (PPV) in an attempt to get his revenge.
He was taped up and selling before he even made it to the ring. Then, Strowman went about picking him apart, at least as much as he could. Roman Reigns is still Roman Reigns, though, so he was dealing Superman Punch after Superman Punch, Spear after Spear.
Strowman took all of it.
It was Braun who overcame.
It took two powerslams on the injured shoulder, after an arm triangle choke, but he did enough to keep Reigns’ shoulders pinned to the mat for a three count.
Time for a title shot?
After the match, Strowman got the steel steps to set them up in the ring to drop Reigns on top of them. Fans chanted “Thank you Strowman” while he did so. For good measure, Strowman drove the steps down into Roman before making his exit. The fans in the arena cheered all of this, even while Reigns lay bloody on the mat.
