WWE Payback 2017 results: Austin Aries wins, but Neville keeps Cruiserweight championship

Austin Aries got another crack at Neville and the Cruiserweight championship at tonight’s (Sun., April 30, 2017) WWE Payback pay-per-view (PPV) at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. He lost the first time at WrestleMania 33.

He won this time.

But that doesn’t mean he’s champion.

The two cocky stars, booked to be evenly matched in nearly every way, went back-and-forth like they did at the biggest show of the year less than one month ago. Once again, Aries threw everything he had at The King. He had him beat too, and Neville knew it.

Instead of tapping out and losing his title, Neville chose to get just physical enough with the referee to force the official to call for a disqualification. Aries wins but Neville is still, technically, King of the Cruiserweights.
