Preshow kicks off with Renee Young welcoming us and running down a few of the top matches on the show before introducing the panel, consisting here of Sam Roberts and Jerry "the King" Lawler. The discussion starts with the admission that no one has any idea what a House of Horrors match before tossing to Charly Caruso in the Social Media Lounge, where she'll be joined later by Cesaro and Sheamus.
The panel shills for the WWE Network before moving on to discussion of the United States Championship match. Sasha Banks joins the panel for discussion of the Women's Championship match and then we move on to Samoa Joe vs. Seth Rollins, leading off with a video package before the discussion. Onto our preshow match!

Enzo & Big Cass enter, they do the deal. Enzo talks about the Club trying to take him out like he's Chinese food, and that there are things he's proud of and things he ain't, before asking Cass to list off a variety of Chinese food that they are not. But if they'd like, he'll hit 'em like chicken and leave 'em lying like dumplings with a pu-pu platter, because of course. Big declares the Club SAWFT and we're off.
Enzo & Big Cass vs. the Club (Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows)
Enzo right in with a takedown on Anderson, mounted punches, he backs off and punts Machine Gun right in the ribs! Shoulder thrusts in the corner but Karl gets a knee off and starts punishing Amore in turn, attacking the shoulder and tagging Gallows in. Big Hoot chokes him against the ropes with a hammerlock, quick tag, wristlock, grinding the elbow against Enzo's own elbow.
O'Connor roll but Luke gets a blind tag and drops him with Divorce Court! Arm wringer, Amore bails and Sex Ferguson throws up the Too Sweets as the match takes a quick break for a house ad.
Back at it, kneeling armbar, keeping Enzo grounded, Gallows hoists him up but gets caught with a counter DDT! Tag made but Anderson manages to block Cass from tagging in! Amore bailed but Karl drags him back in, taking him to the corner, Enzo fighting to stay free. He has the block from Machine Gun scouted, but Luke yanks Big off the apron! Tag to Gallows, straight suplex, Enzo floats over, tag made!
Cass in like a house afire, clotheslining Anderson out of the ring, Stinger splash scouted, scoop and a slam on Big LG, elbow drop, pass to the corner, Stinger splash connects this time! A second, going for a third but Karl makes the save and Luke catches him with a superkick. Tag to Enzo, Anderson kicks him off the apron before he can come in and Gallows is running interference.
Luke tags back in, hoisted for Magic Killer but Big makes the save with a boot, Enzo rolls with it...
Enzo & Big Cass win by pinfall with a small package from Enzo Amore on Luke Gallows.

Backstage the Hardyz are talking strategy and Matt says they're going to keep it simple-- Twist of Fate, Swanton Bomb, over. Golden Truth come in to reminisce with the Boyz and tell them they've inspired the guys in the back and they're the shot of adrenaline the tag division means. Goldust tells 'em face to face that they went to Kurt Angle and got themselves a match against the winner of tonight's title match.
Goldy's still sore from Braun but Matt thinks a match would be TREMENDOUS.
Back with the pre-show panel, we get discussion of the tag team division. Cesaro and Sheamus in the Social Media Lounge is next, the first question is about their strategy tonight. Cesaro says their strategy is to tag and win and then high five. Sheamus says they don't really have a plan, they're just hard hitters and they go out there and do what they do best and the Hardyz reign is about to end. Cesaro adds that they do, in fact have a strategy but obviously won't share it here.
The next question is about the Hardyz' experience, to which Cesaro says they have something to prove. Sheamus disagrees, saying they have nothing to prove and says the Boyz are all nostalgia. Cesaro adds they push each other to get better every day and that'll give them the edge to win.
As to who the better athlete of them is, that's obviously a silly question designed to sow dissent, and Cesaro accuses the asker of being a second account of Matt Hardy's. Sheamus plows ahead about winning and says he's clearly the better athlete, to which Cesaro says it's great that Sheamus gets to look up to him every day. They settle it by agreeing that they are, together, the two best athletes in WWE today.
Cesaro talks about the upcoming European tour and how awesome going home as champion would be and we kick back to the panel for their discussion of the match. This is followed by a video package for the House of Horrors match and then discussion of the same, still no one having a clue what the match may consist of. The panel shills for the Network some more, talking Backlash up, before it's time for MizTV!
________________________________________
Miz makes his entrance, flanked by Maryse as always.
Miz lets the crowd simmer a second before doing his usual introductory spiel. He talks up the presence and aura of his guest, Finn Balor. Finn, obligingly, makes his entrance, and Miz asks him if he's done because he took five minutes and the A-lister has stuff to do, thank you very much. The crowd cheers the idea of a five minute entrance and takes Miz aback, he has no idea what this is.
Finn says it's Balor Club, and Miz asks about membership requirements, if he and Maryse could join. Balor says that's not his decision, it's a Club decision, and he puts it to the crowd.
They do not want Miz in Balor Club, but are more receptive of Maryse, and Finn judges it a "nope". Miz says they don't want to join anyway and that's just the surface issue, he wants to dig deep, get into the core of Finn Balor. He did a lot of research and Finn came in with so much promise. Wherever he went he became a champion and a star, Europe, Japan, Mexico, NXT, and in NXT he was the longest-reigning champion!
Last year at the draft, Finn was a first-round pick, drafted before Miz, so he wants to know, looking back on his year, does Balor feel like a failure? Finn says only if you consider injuring yourself like he did but finishing the match and becoming Universal Champion a failure, then sure, he was a failure. Miz says if that's not a failure he doesn't know what is, and Balor Club are all failures besides, so that's why they're all in the club together.
He says Balor is too small and fights with his heart rather than with his brain, and while he was out for eight months, Miz was making SmackDown must-see TV and holding the Intercontinental Championship. He asks what's next for Finn Balor, and Finn says he's gonna get his title back and yeah, he knows who's champion. Miz reminds us that Brock Lesnar, the Beast Incarnate holds the title and says that Brock would break him in half and even Miz could wipe the floor with Finn himself.
Balor says he likes his odds against Brock but right now, there's two clubs Miz could join. One is Balor Club, and we know he can't join, and the other is the Finn Balor Just Kicked My Ass Club, to which Miz hides behind his wife. Finn gets on the mic and says every episode of MizTV ends the same way, with Miz getting his ass kicked, but today he'll be the bigger man because really, Miz isn't worth it.
Miz has a conniption about the sound guy playing Balor's music and rants about Finn being afraid of getting injured... SLING BLADE! Shotgun dropkick follows, Finn's music plays, and Maryse tends to her husband.
Back to the preshow panel, they discuss what we just saw as best they can under the roar of the crowd, before moving on to Reigns/Strowman and a quick rundown of the card to close the preshow out.

Owens heads to the corner, begging the ref to check and Zapata obliges, backing Jericho off, but it was a ruse, Kev pokes the eyes for two!
Superkick, off the ropes but his hand is hurt such that he can't lift Jericho up for the powerbomb! Walls of Jericho are in again! Crawling, desperate, but he can't reach...
Chris Jericho wins by submission with the Walls of Jericho, winning the WWE United States Championship.
Chris celebrates his win with fans at ringside, putting Owens on a child's List of Jericho.

A Double getting fired up, Neville back to the apron, strike exchange over the ropes, Austin puts Neville's face into the post but the King turns it around. Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton (House of Horrors Match)
Randy Orton rolls up to the House of Horrors in a limousine, fists taped. He gets out and the place is bathed in an eerie blue light, which I hope for his sake is not Cherenkov radiation. A light flickers in the window and a tractor moves on its own. He walks up to the door and finds it locked, so he kicks it in and enters.. Images flicker on screen as Bray Wyatt laughs and the door shuts behind him.
Bray blindsides him! He throws Orton to the floor and kicks him before drawing him back up and throwing him into a wall and welcoming him to hell! Another punch, Randy finds himself leaning on an end table and smashes a vase or a lamp or something shatter-y into Wyatt's face! Bray bails throw an unfinished doorway and the Viper follows, images flickering again. Wyatt reaches through a wall to choke him!
Orton makes his way into a room strung with baby dolls hanging form the ceiling, various weird and unsettling things done to them. He yanks one down and again Wyatt blindsides him! But this time the Viper goes for the eyes and backs Wyatt off, only for Bray to throw him through a wall and scream about his eyes! The Eater of Worlds throws a bassinet at him and leaves Randy to stumble after once more.
Back into the living room, yelling for Wyatt, a light bulb flickers and Orton smashes a dish for no reason. Into a room with some kind of altar, but Randy doesn't take the bait and backs off into the kitchen, where he sees "We're here" written on the fridge and again Wyatt blindsides him! They brawl from counter to sink and the Viper throws punch after punch after punch on the tile!
More punches still, both men spent, slow to their feet, Randy thinking he's gonna straight murder his former master over the sink with a frying pan but Bray kicks him in the gentleman's area for separation.... WYATT DUMPS THE REFRIGERATOR ON ORTON! Bray, gasping, stumbles through the house and reaches the door, screaming for some reason. He steps outside and heads into the yard, coughing, before posing and instructing us to follow the buzzards, at which point the light turns red.
Wyatt laughs and gets into the limo, ordering the driver to take him to the arena, and we leave the match at this point.

Samoa Joe vs. Seth Rollins
Circling, Joe rushes in and Rollins backs off. Samoa feinting kicks, Seth protects his leg and keeps his distance before going to the collar and elbow, where Joe backs him in the corner and breaks dirty, picking the leg. Chop back, Joe with punches in return, headbutts, whip, Seth ducks a lariat, throws a dropkick and Joe ends up outside. Samoa picks the leg but Rollins won't go and instead throws a plancha and follows with a chop and punches.
Joe back at it with the headbutts, toss over the barricade, the Architect back in with a flying lariat off the barricade! In the ring, up top and Joe bails back outside, inviting a suicide dive! A second, back in, forearm from the apron but Samoa knocks him off, targeting the knee! Joe with a suicide dive of his own that sends Rollins over the announce tables!
Back in the ring, punch to the back of the head, kick to the chest, into a strike exchange, punch for punch but Joe goes low with a legsweep and wipes Seth out. Stepping on the foot, the Destroyer drops a senton right on the bad knee! Trading chops, Joe with a whip, charging back elbow and the enzuigiri get two. Samoa throwing jabs, backing Rollins in the corner, and then caving his chest in with a chop.
Seth ready on the charge, he catches Joe with the reverse STO into the turnbuckles and throws a lariat, staggering the big man. A second, he ducks one from Samoa and hits a superkick, whip to the corner, charging forearm, another, swinging neckbreaker, he follows it with the Kneecapper and locks a kneebar in! Rollins struggles and escapes, Joe picks the legs, Seth lands on his feet, barely, and Samoa hits the folding powerbomb into the half-crab!
Crawling desperate for the ropes, screaming, Joe shifts to a cloverleaf but the Architect makes the ropes. Joe stalking him in the corner, facewash, off the ropes but Seth meets him with a forearm! Back elbow, sling blade, both men out on the mat! Back on their feet, Seth throwing chops and forearms, diving blockbuster connects but Joe kicks out!
Front chancery, trying for a suplex but Samoa hits the knee and blocks, throws the senton and Rollins rolls away. Avada Kedavra connects... NOT ENOUGH! Seth climbing up top on one foot, Joe cuts him off and climbs after, Rollins slips through, trying for a powerbomb but his knee gives out! Falcon Arrow connects for a nearfall and the Architect climbs again... frog splash! His knee bugging him as he rolls to the cover... NOPE!
Looking for a waistlock, Joe slips away and throws elbows, trading strikes, slap rush, Seth ducks the big one and connects with an enzuigiri! Off the ropes and Samoa catches him into the Coquina Clutch! Seth in the corner, rolls through into a pin... NO GOOD! Joe takes his head off with a lariat! Back to the Coquina Clutch, Rollins fighting, struggling for air, he fades, but he uses his momentum to take Joe over...
Seth Rollins wins by pinfall, countering the Coquina Clutch into a pinning predicament.

The limo rolls up to the arena and Bray Wyatt gets out, trudging his way inexorably towards the ring.
He makes his entrance in the arena proper and gets in the ring... when the lights come up, Orton is behind him with a chair! He waffles Bray across the back! Face to the steps, into the announce table and then over it, the Viper is on a roll! Grabbing Wyatt by the beard, DDT off the table! Dragging him up by the hair now, into the apron again, and Randy get the chair, waffling it across Bray's back once more.
Back in the ring, Orton goes to that place... and the Singh brothers hit the ring! Randy throws one out of the ring and powerslams the other, giving Bray time to wake up, Sister Abigail blocked, RKO! BUT JINDER MAHAL HITS HIM FROM BEHIND WITH THE WWE TITLE BELT! ANOTHER SHOT! Bray runs over...
Bray Wyatt wins by pinfall with Sister Abigail.

We get another Shinsuke Nakamura-themed hype video, for those of you who didn't enjoy the previous segment.
Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns
Roman in with punches before the bell! Referee Chad Patton calls for it, low-bridge, Braun outside, Reigns runs around for a leaping lariat off the steps! Strowman staggers to his feet, Big Dog thinking about a dive but the monster steps away. Drive-By... BRAUN CATCHES HIM AND THROWS HIM INTO THE BARRICADE! CHOKESLAM ON THE GERMAN ANNOUNCE DESK!
Back in the ring, Roman throws a lariat but Strowman clubs his shoulder and kicks his ribs. A second kick to the injured ribs, corner avalanche, stepping on Reigns with both feet, backhammer to a clubbing fist, just taking him to the woodshed. Shoulder to post, Roman falls outside against the steps and Braun hits a body avalanche to squash him against them before throwing him through them.
Rolling the Big Dog inside, the monster follows, drawing him up for repeated knee lifts to the ribs and running him over on a whip into a lackadaisical cover that still gets two. Grounded bear hug applied, I can hardly bear it! Wrenching it in, Reigns fights to a knee and to his feet, throwing elbows and Strowman throws him away. Corner avalanche dodged, a second, Roman throwing lariats, ducks one in return, thinking Superman Punch, caught in the goozle, escapes, slicing right, Samoan drop... NOT ENOUGH!
Corner lariats now, clubbing away but referee Chad Patton forces the break. Cactus Clothesline sends both men outside. Drive-By connects, calling for the spear but Braun catches him! Slips out, Reigns throws the monster into the ringpost and dodges a charge to send him in a second time, the big man hitting it hard enough to kill the LEDs! Patton counting, Braun stirs and gets back in at nine!
Off the ropes, spear... STROWMAN LIVES! Calling again but Braun gets a boot up! Thinking Yokosuka Cutter, Roman slips out, off the ropes, Superman Punch! A second takes Strowman to one knee! Running the ropes, Braun pops him up and catches him in the arm triangle! Sucking the life out of him, Strowman shifts position, running powerslam... NO GOOD!
Hoisting him back up...
Braun Strowman wins by pinfall with the running powerslam.
Braun goes and gets the top step and throws it in the ring next to a still prone Reigns. Referees swarm the ring begging Strowman not to do it but he drags the steps around and sets them up on their side. He picks the Big Dog up and drops him face first on the steel! Braun picks the steps up, lifts them over his head... AND SLAMS THEM INTO ROMAN'S CHEST!
Fit Finlay and five-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce are at ringside to tell Braun off and check on Reigns, they signal for the EMTs. Roman is barely crawling under his own power, blood on his face and his arm as the referees and agents help him up the ramp. They get to the stage and the EMTs make it down with the stretcher but Reigns doesn't want to get on it, insisting on walking out under his own power.
That's the show, folks.
