Now that Charlotte is gone and Alexa Bliss and Mickie James came to the division in the “Superstar Shake-Up,” WWE needed to find a new top contender to Bayley’s Raw women’s championship. They did so on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in the form of a Fatal 4-Way pitting Bliss vs. James vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax.
The story of the match was that Jax was nearly unstoppable and, indeed, it was her power that led to the finish. She used Sasha as a battering ram to knock James out of the ring, then hit a Samoan Drop on Banks to set up for the pinfall and victory.
Only Alexa was too quick, coming in fast with a dropkick that sent Nia out. She quickly covered Banks and earned a three count to become the new number one contender to the Raw women’s title. That means she’s got a match with Bayley coming sooner rather than later, though they didn’t officially announce it for the upcoming Payback pay-per-view (PPV) on April 30 in San Jose.
Expect that to come soon.
