Report: Dash Wilder injured, out until Summer

WWE.com

Well, this sucks.

In a couple of the many fanboy-ish posts about The Revival published here at cSs over the past few days (and weeks, and months), we discussed Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson’s show-closing work at NXT’s Saturday night (April 15) Concord, North Carolina house show. While it wasn’t the focus of our stories, one item of note from the main event that evening was Dawson teaming with Bobby Roode instead of Wilder.

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, that’s because Dash is on the shelf with a broken jaw. That site’s sources aren’t certain when the injury occurred (he last worked Friday night in Spartanburg, South Carolina, losing to Shinsuke Nakamura & Hideo Itami alongside his regular partner), but they do indicate he’s expected to be out until early July.

The Revival aren’t involved in a feud - they worked excusively with The New Day during their two weeks on Raw, and Kofi Kingston, Big E & Xavier Woods were moved to SmackDown in last week’s “Superstar Shake-Up”. Even so, the timing couldn’t be much worse for a team who was just promoted to the main roster, and seemed to be making new fans with their online gloating about being responsible of Kingston’s injury.

Hopefully, WWE Creative can find a way to keep them on our minds while Wilder heals.

Get well soon, Top Guy.

UPDATE: WWE.com followed up on Ryan Satin’s scoop with a post of their own which contained more details, including this quote from Dr. Jeff Westerfield:

On Friday night, following an in-ring injury to the right side of his jaw, we sent [Wilder] to the ER for a cat scan. The test came back showing a jaw fracture. As a result, he will be getting his jaw wired [Friday at 9 a.m.] and we are looking forward to him being back on the main roster in about eight weeks.

Dash told the site, “This is nothing. I've had worse than this and didn't even bat an eye. I'd be out there tonight with my jaw wired shut if they'd let me.”

His partner agreed, but in a way which doesn’t sound like Creative will be writing him into angles while Wilder’s on the shelf:

We’re two hard-headed, southern-minded individuals. We will be back and continue to do what we have always done and that’s barrel through every tag team. No matter whether it’s a jaw, a knee, an ankle or an ice cream cart, we are going to go through ya and make sure we get as much money in our bank account as possible.
