Turns out SmackDown didn’t get screwed in the Superstar Shake-Up after all. At least not as badly as some folks thought on first glance.
No, shortly after United States champion Kevin Owens was introduced, his old nemesis Sami Zayn made his way down the ramp - much to KO’s consternation.

So we not only learned “Fight Forever” will still be a thing - but also that Sami’s chances of winning a singles title just increased roughly 100% here in Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon’s land of opportunity. Plus, General Manager Bryan eventually broke up a crazy opening scene which eventually featured Baron Corbin and AJ Styles to announce KO might not stay on Team Blue unless he retains the U.S. title against Chris Jericho at Payback... AND we’re going to have a #1 contenders match to discover whoever still has the red, white and blue strap on May 1.
Phew.
