Bas Rutten says Mauro Ranallo is ‘doing okay’ and should ‘be back very soon’

Followed up on yesterday’s update about SmackDown and 205 Live lead announcer Mauro Ranallo, who’s missed the past two weeks of WWE television - his friend and mixed martial arts commentary partner Bas Rutten was a guest recently on the SiriusXM radio show of Luke Thomas from our SBNation sister site, MMAFighting.

Thomas asked Rutten about Ranallo, and his response confirmed Mauro’s been dealing with the mental health condition he’s frequently shared with the public in the past, while also providing cause for optimism about not only a return to WWE, but also his well-being:

He’s doing okay. As everybody knows – he’s very vocal about it – Mauro is bipolar. Sometimes, a couple of times a year, things are going too fast and he needs to just simply slow down. But he’s doing good. I talked to him, he’s sending me funny video clips, he just sent me something - I didn’t take a look at it... but a happy thing - it’s all in good spirits. I think he will be back to normal very soon.

Great news, indeed. Continued love and support from all of us here at Cageside to Mauro as he addresses his challenges, and thanks for sharing his story so others with similar struggles know they’re not alone.
