That was awesome.
Considering we’re just two weeks away from WrestleMania 33 on April 2 in Orlando, there wasn’t much thought given to the idea that WWE might book a tag team title change. In fact, it was just a couple weeks ago that the tag division was struggling to make it on television.
Then, this week’s episode of SmackDown Live gave us an unbelievable match that saw The Usos defeat American Alpha to win the blue belts.
This is a match you need to go out of your way to see. The Usos had a false finish that convinced you they would win only for Chad Gable to kick out, then it looked certain Alpha would retain only for the pin to be broken up, before a fun finishing sequence saw Jimmy & Jey come away with their hands raised.
The SmackDown tag division needed a match this good, one that elicited “this is awesome” chants from the fans in attendance. Suddenly, it looks even more interesting than anything they’ve got going on over on Monday Night Raw.
