When it was revealed that Kurt Angle would be returning to WWE for an induction into the Hall of Fame as the headlining attraction for the class of 2017, it was assumed he was either retired or would be wrestling for the company again. As it turns out, neither of those things are happening.
At least not yet.
As he told Busted Open on SiriusXM Rush:
"I'm not done. Whether I do something with WWE or not, I'm not done wrestling. I will be soon, I just don't feel like I got the proper goodbye yet. Hopefully it will come down the road soon. ... I'm not at liberty to talk about it but I can seriously be honest right now and say that Triple H and I did not have a discussion about wrestling after WrestleMania yet. But do I think it will happen? Yes. Do I know for sure? No."
That WWE finally welcomed Angle back into the fold, before he’s willing to close the door on wrestling another match, could mean the powers that be have changed their position on allowing him to do so. It’s also possible the need for a headliner for this year’s Hall of Fame was great enough to deal with whatever issues may arise while maintaining previously held positions.
We’ll find out eventually, as long as Angle decides he doesn’t want to hang up his boots for good.
