She’s been rumored to represent women’s wrestling in the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame class for quite some time, and moments ago, the company made it official. Beth Phoenix is joining this year’s class along with Kurt Angle, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, Teddy Long & Diamond Dallas Page.
The exclusive report was handled by USA Today.
In her six years with the company, Phoenix was a four-time champion, having one the Divas belt once after holding the Women’s title three times. She was the second of the three women to have entered the Royal Rumble match, and notched an elimination in 2010 before she was put over the top rope herself.
In addition to melding her impressive strength with a great in-ring style, the Glamazon was also a talented character actress who shined in pretty much any pairing the company gave her, from Trish Stratus to Santino Marella to Natalya.
Since her 2012 retirement, Phoenix (real name Beth Kocianski-Copeland) is married to fellow Hall of Famer Edge. The couple have two daughters, Lyric & Ruby.
Commenting on the announcement to USA Today, she said:
To hear they find my career was worthy enough and that I did well enough in the ring to be honored among the greatest of all time was incredible and the biggest compliment I could ever ask for. It’s still sinking in and is very surreal.
Congratulations, Beth. We’ll see you at the induction ceremony on March 31 in Orlando!
