When Seth Rollins went down with a knee injury, WWE had to change the plans it had for the Fastlane pay-per-view on Mar. 5, 2017 in Milwaukee. Samoa Joe no longer had a dance partner for the event, so the powers that be decided to put him opposite one of the best babyface mid-card acts on the Monday Night Raw roster, Sami Zayn.
This is a good thing for a number of reasons, perhaps most of all because we know they can tear the house down. We know this because they did exactly that in a balls to the wall 2-out-of-3 Falls number one contender match on NXT television back on Mar. 9, 2016.
