Luke Harper & AJ Styles’ #1 contender match headlines next week’s loaded SmackDown

WWE.com

It was pretty much set-up by the closing scene on SmackDown Live last night (Feb. 21), but Talking Smack made it explicit - next week, AJ Styles and Luke Harper will fight one-on-one with a WrestleMania title shot on the line.

This is necessary, of course, thanks to officials being unable to determine whose feet hit the floor first at the conclusion of yesterday’s #1 contender battle royal - despite the physics of the spot meaning Styles had to come down ahead of Luke’s, but I digress... If it means a 20 - 30 minute main event between the Phenomenal One and one of WWE’s most underrated workers in Harper, who are we to complain.

Determing his Mania main event isn’t the only thing WWE has planned for the Feb. 28 edition of SmackDown, which isn’t quite shaping up to be a pay-per-view (PPV) caliber affair like the last episode of 2016, but will be must-see TV on the Road to WrestleMania.

John Cena, fresh off being eliminated from the battle royal by The Miz despite Cena having already dumped the A-Lister himself, will be the guest on Miz TV. And seeing as how Mrs. Mizanin attacked John’s girlfriend Nikki Bella with a lead pipe on Tuesday night, that should be an interesting conversation - and one that goes a long way to setting up the rumored mixed tag match for the Showcase of the Immortals.

Should be enough to get you to tune in on Feb. 28, right, Cagesiders?
