Date, location revealed for WWE Payback 2017

We still don’t have anything like a full picture of WWE’s 2017 pay-per-view (PPV) puzzle, but bits and pieces continue to snap into place.

That latest is Payback, which will take place on April 30 at San Jose, California’s SAP Center. According the venue’s website and WWE.com, tickets go on sale this Friday, Feb. 24. Those announcements also confirm this will be a Raw-brand event.

Payback joins Money in the Bank - recently confirmed as a SmackDown show - as the only post-WrestleMania 33 PPV officially on the schedule before August’s SummerSlam. Extreme Rules and Battleground are rumored (and listed in what’s believed to be semi-chronological order on the “Shows” page of WWE.com) to take place in that three-to-five month window, as well, but nothing’s been mentioned by WWE or prospective hosts.

The blue brand will surely get an event before June 18’s MitB, but that it and Payback are the only brand-specific events currently announced for Raw & SmackDown after Mania could be a sign reports from 2016 which said WWE was looking to scale back the number of PPVs were correct.

Time will tell on that. In the meantime, any Northern Cali Cagesiders headed to Payback?
