WWE.com posted this story a short-time ago, claiming Seth Rollins surgically repaired knee was re-injured this past Monday, Jan. 30 on Raw when the debuting Samoa Joe assaulted the Architect as he was headed to the ring for a showdown with his former mentor Triple H:
Seth Rollins’ right knee was re-injured during Samoa Joe’s ambush at the conclusion of this Monday’s Raw, WWE.com can now confirm. The attack occurred as Rollins was heading to the ring to finally confront Triple H, who cost The Architect a WWE Universal Championship opportunity back in August.
WWE.com cameras captured footage of Rollins leaving the Laredo Energy Arena in Laredo, Texas, Monday night, but no specific details on the former WWE Champion’s condition have been revealed. Rollins is set to be evaluated later this week.
That this is being broken by the company, complete with video of his trip to the hospital, leads us to immediately think storyline. Joe’s sneak attack from Raw didn’t target the knee, and it would be shocking if they managed to keep an injury that occurred in Laredo and required immediate medical attention a secret.
But...
He may have actually been hurt on Monday. My boss, the eagle-eyed Geno Mrosko, caught how Seth’s leg bent beneath him when Joe took him down for the Coquina Clutch that closed the show and, well, we can’t say that wouldn’t at least result in a hyperextension (the below video is queued up to just before that happens so you can decide for yourself):
Now, Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that the injury is real and did happen on Raw. Beyond that, Ryan Satin’s sources are saying Seth’s status for WrestleMania 33 is up in the air and that officials are already brainstorming back-up plans for Trips.
UPDATE: Dave Meltzer at Wrestling Observer is also reporting that an injury did occur and this is not storyline. Both sources say the medical diagnosis has not been finalized, so the extent of the damage to Rollins’ right knee is unknown at this time.
PWInsider adds Seth is currently in Birmingham, Alabama being evaluated. Birmingham is of course the home of the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, where Rollins 2015 surgery to repair the ACL, MCL and medial meniscus in his right knee was performed.
While that’s going on, Samoa Joe is either furthering the story or creating a new wrinkle to cover for what really happened:
.@TripleH I believe I have delivered as requested. https://t.co/x55KoxGEu5

We certainly haven’t heard the last of this, Cagesiders. Stay tuned.
