NXT is back at their home base of Full Sail Live, where they'll tape matches and segments for their regular Wednesday night series on WWE Network.
Tonight’s show (Feb. 1) is the first scheduled taping after TakeOver: San Antonio event from last Saturday (Jan. 28). It’ll give us our first shows of the Glorious Era with Bobby Roode as NXT champ, and provide about half the episodes which will take us to the pre-WrestleMania 33 TakeOver: Orlando.
We’ll know more when results start rolling in from Winter Park, Florida. We'll be updating those here live, starting at the scheduled 6:30PM Eastern bell time:
- Mandy Rose over Heidi Lovelace in the opening dark match. Heidi worked under her real name here, Dori Prange.
- SAnitY (Alexander Wolfe & Killian Dain) over Bollywood Boyz (Gurv & Harv Sihra). Wolfe never even had to tag in.
- After the match, Nikki Cross calls Asuka out, and Eric Young claims that after his victory at TakeOver, Tye Dillinger belongs to SAnitY.
- Liv Morgan over Billie Kay.
- Backstage, Tye says he won’t join SAnitY and gets attacked for his trouble. The brawl spills out to ringside, where No Way Jose and Roderick Strong make the save.
- The Revival (Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson) over Heavy Machinery (Otis Dozovic & Tucker Knight). Heavy Machinery are finally billed as such on their tron, too!
- Post-match, the Revival claim to be the greatest tag team going today and issue a challenge to the Authors of Pain for the tag titles. Paul Ellering says that anyone that challenges the Authors will be ground into dust. The Authors pose with the titles and the Revival attack them from behind! It’s a hit and run, no extended brawl.
- Bobby Roode makes his first entrance as NXT Champion. He cuts a promo about how he told us he was on another level and proved it by beating Shinsuke Nakamura. He says it’s not “We are NXT” anymore, it’s his NXT, and it’s... Glorious.
- And now for something completely different... No Way Jose is leading a conga line through the crowd on his way to a trios match against SAnitY.
- SAnitY (Alexander Wolfe, Eric Young, & Killian Dain) over No Way Jose, Roderick Strong, & Tye Dillinger.
- Tyler Bate will be defending the WWE United Kingdom Championship tonight!
- But in the meantime, the Authors of Pain have a match against some enhancement talent. They win, inevitably.
- Billie Kay & Peyton Royce over Ember Moon & Liv Morgan.
- #DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) out now to cut a promo. Johnny says the Authors are big and bad but he saw doubt in their eyes and he wants a rematch. Paul Ellering obliges, saying they’ll get theirs in two weeks. The Revival then do a hit and run on #DIY.
- Tyler Bate (c) over Trent Seven to retain the WWE United Kingdom Championship. Moustache Mountain explodes! Just based on the length of time this is getting, it might be something special, folks.
- Peyton Royce over Ember Moon and Liv Morgan to become #1 contender to the NXT Women’s Championship.
- Pete Dunne over Mark Andrews in a rematch of their semifinal!
- Bobby Roode over No Way Jose. Roode heads back and beats on Jose some more after his victory, going after the knee much like he did with Shinsuke Nakamura to win the title.
- Kassius Ohno makes the save! Roode asks him who he thinks he is and Ohno says he’s Kassius Ohno and he’s nothing to mess with. And furthermore, he wants the title. Roode says he can try right now and attacks Ohno as he’s taking his jacket off! Ohno’s able to mount some offense and run Roode off, however.
- Patrick Clark over Sean Maluta.
- Ohno comes back out and calls Roode out, leading to an attack and Ohno getting the better of him again.
- Asuka (c) over Peyton Royce to retain the NXT Women’s Championship. Post-match, Kay and Royce attacked and Ember Moon makes the save.
- Authors of Pain (Akam & Rezar) (c) vs. #DIY (NXT Tag Team Championship) is your main event of the tapings. The match ends in disqualification when the Revival come down, and they stand tall to end the show.
There you have it, folks
Approximately four weeks of TV to carry us on our way to Orlando. Look good to you, Cagesiders?
