The only thing missing which would really close the book on the Paige/Alberto El Patron saga was one of the people involved publicly stating the relationship was over.
Sure, Paige was caught referring to herself as “single” on Snapchat, and that they were no longer plastered all over one another’s social media was a pretty good indicator. But some folks still wondered if maybe they were just keeping things quiet after such a chaotic year.
Wonder no more, as El Patron addressed things on Konnan’s Keeping It 100 podcast:
“We decided to end our relationship. I know people are just finding out right now... we ended the relationship weeks ago. I mean weeks ago. But we both agreed not to say absolutely anything because we got tired of media, people, everyone having an opinion about us - including family! - having an opinion about our relationship and what we do, or what we used to do, so we decided not to say anything. But actually, when we were in Canada doing Impact tapings, I talked to Paige and I said ‘Listen, I think it’s about time for us to say something because people, they starting to realize that we’re not together, especially because I’m always working and with my kids somewhere else and you’re always hanging out with your friends.’
So I asked her if we should say something and having Paige say ‘No, no, no. I don’t want to, you and I had an agreement. So you want to say something, say something, but I want...’ So I say I’m gonna respect our agreement and I’m not gonna say anything.
But then, apparently a friend accidentally posted a video or put a video out there for a couple seconds then deleted it, but in the internet, once you put something in the internet, it’s there forever. So people started coming to me and I was like, ‘seriously?’ So I called Paige and I said, ‘Come on, what’s going on?’
And she was ‘It was an accident, it was my friend.’ I said, ‘Eh, yeah, but you know, it’s always your friends, it’s always your family, it’s always your brother... it’s always someone from your side. It’s just not fair.’ I said you and I had an agreement and even though it wasn’t you breaking it, it was someone from your side and I’m just tired of being affected by your side of people.
But yeah, that’s the reality of things. We ended up on good terms. She wants the best for me. I want the best for her. I know she’s going to be the most successful Diva in history. She has all the talent and we had an amazing relationship and I just wanna say: the haters, they never broke us. We decided to do this because it’s the best for our careers and my kids.”
Konnan tries to get Alberto to talk about things like Paige’s in ring proposal or their run-ins with law enforcement in Las Vegas and Orlando International Airport, but El Patron sticks to what he’s said in the past - the pair were passionate, that came out in their disagreements and “the internet” blew it out of proportion from there.
Regardless, sounds like things are officially over - so Paige, Alberto and all of us can move on.
