Undisputed ERA defeat SAnitY for their first WWE NXT gold

WWE (and a bunch of other places like right here at Cageside Seats) reported on the news when it happened at the Nov. 29 NXT tapings at Full Sail Live, but the episode in question finally aired on Dec. 20... so we can go ahead and talk about it without the spoiler tag.

We can also share some video of the match which kicked off the show, where SAnitY defended their tag titles against Undisputed ERA’s Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish.

SAnitY have been freebirding the belts (not that they’ve had a bunch of defenses where you’d be able to see them do that since winning them in Brooklyn this past August), and while three of the group’s four members got involved in the match, Eric Young and Killian Dain were the official representatives against Fish and O’Reilly.

The duo formerly known as reDRagon survived an early onslaught by EY, but when Fish tripped him up on the apron, Undisputed took control. Young was eventually able to tag in the big Irishman (who will compete in a Fatal 4Way against Lars Sullivan, Aleister Black and Johnny Gargano to determine Andrade “Cien” Almas’ next challenger for the NXT title on next Wednesday’s show). It even looked like SAnitY would retain, but then Adam Cole crotched Young before he could try something from the top rope. Nikki Cross would fire back at Cole, but the tides had turned for good.

With SAnitY’s attention still on Cole, Fish and O’Reilly were ready when EY returned to the ring. They hit him with their clothesline/legsweep combination and we had new champions.

Without a WarGames match to build to, look for Undisputed ERA to be busier with title feuds than their predecessors were. It’s not just rematches with SAnitY or the other set of former champs still on the roster, Authors of Pain, either. There’s several challengers ready or soon-to-be-ready (like Street Profits, Heavy Machinery, Tino Sabatelli and Riddick Moss, The Brit-Am Brawlers and whatever TM-61 are called when they finally relaunch), too.

Excited for the a new phase of the Undisputed ERA to begin, Cagesiders?
