The Usos (c) vs. the New Day vs. Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable vs. Rusev Day (Rusev & Aiden English)

SmackDown tag team championship match

I’m triggered right now.

Why? Because there’s a war on Rusev Day.

Rusev Day is a daily sacred holiday honoring the Bulgarian wonder Rusev, maybe Aiden English (I’m not sure where he fits in the meaning of Rusev Day, but he’s awesome so why not?), and all that is good in the world. Despite how holy this day is, it doesn’t get any respect in today’s climate. Last week, I had to go to work on each Rusev Day. Every day! Starbucks doesn’t have a special Rusev Day cup (it’d really just be a regular cup with a picture of Rusev). No one goes Rusev Day caroling any more! I mean I only know the one song that Aiden English beautifully sings on TV and really I don’t know more than the “It’s Rusev Day!!” line but still!

And most importantly, no one ever says “Elated Rusev Day to you” any more. Hell, even WWE.com doesn’t refer to them as Rusev Day. Just Aiden English & Rusev. How PC.

When I was a kid, people said that all the time. You may be saying “Ummm... I’m pretty sure that Rusev Day was just invented like 2 months ago” but that’s just propaganda, man.

But tonight, Rusev and Aiden English may force us to take notice of Rusev Day if they win the tag team titles.

Here’s how we got here:

The tag match started as just Benjamin and Gable vs. the champion Usos. But then the New Day defeated Benjamin and Gable and got inserted into the match.

Then Rusev Day defeated the New Day and were added into the match.

To grab a bit more momentum going into Clash of Champions, Rusev Day also picked up a win against the champions last Tuesday.

There’s a ton of talent in this match and this could be the best bout on the card tonight. Will we be saying Happy Rusev Day tomorrow after an English and Rusev win? We’ll find out tonight. Until then, have an Elated Rusev Day!

Clash of Champions airs tonight on the WWE Network at 8 EST. Keep it here at CagesideSeats.com for all your Clash coverage.
