At PCW UK Festive Fury on Powerbomb.tv today, owner Steven Fludder teased a big announcement at intermission, and shortly after they came back and got through a wacky holiday-themed Lumbersack Match that ended with Session Moth Martina Tombstone piledriving a man dressed as a Christmas tree onto her opponent Nadia Sapphire, he got in the ring and made it.
He teased it out a bit, saying WWE had given special dispensation for an active Raw superstar and former PCW Heavyweight Champion to wrestle in their Road to Glory tournament next February. This got chants for Noam Dar out of the crowd, but no, it won't be the Scottish Supernova, WWE are sending someone with a little bit more of a... Worldwide outlook.
Thank you @wwe, @TripleH & @RealKingRegal

Former PCW Champion @ApolloCrews returns home for one night only on February 10th! pic.twitter.com/F3UOxamwAF
He joins Zack Sabre, Jr. as confirmed talent for the tournament, which is a hell of a start, really!
This is, by my count, the first time since WWE have started making their recent inroads on the independent scene that a main roster, heavyweight wrestler has been allowed to wrestle on an indie show, so this is potentially really game-changing. Granted, it’s not like Apollo Crews is doing much right now, this isn’t the Miz or Dean Ambrose or Samoa Joe headed out, but even so, new ground is being broken here.
And, perhaps most importantly, this may mean a return to Apollo’s greatest entrance theme...
There you have it, folks
2018 looks to see WWE moving on from simply allowing NXT and Cruiserweight talent to do indie bookings right on to full-on main roster superstars. Excited, Cagesiders?
