Here's the reason Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were sent home by WWE

New, comments

In case you missed it, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens were sent home from WWE’s European tour today (Nov. 8), allegedly for disciplinary reasons.

A follow-up report from Pro Wrestling Sheet explains why.

After Zayn lost to Kofi Kingston in SmackDown LIVE’s opening match on Nov. 7, Owens hit the ring to attack The New Day member. Big E and Xavier Woods followed and chased him off.

At that point, everything is apparently going to script. What was supposed to happen next was for KO and Sami to charge back into the ring, only to be repeatedly pushed back by Kofi, E, and Xavier. Sheet says Zayn and Owens were instructed to “feed” for New Day (basically take a beating to help the babyfaces get a big pop).

This video is cued up to the point where the heels allegedly “went into business for themselves” and left the ring area rather than engage with New Day further. Owens can be heard yelling for Sami to leave with him, Woods, Kingston and E look confused and the whole segment ends awkwardly.

You’d have to be a mind-reader to know for certain why the pair of real-life friends decided to follow their own lead here. Did they voice issues with this scene backstage? Are they really unhappy with their current booking? Could they be frustrated with the company over the departure of Neville and Jimmy Jacobs? A combination of all three... plus any number of possibilities we don’t now and may never know?

Sheet’s report mentions multiple sources reaching out to them to say “the duo have been slightly difficult to work with lately and seem unhappy backstage.”

Certainly not the end...
