It wasn’t without precedent, seeing as Raw ended with a Survivor Series-altering title change last night (Nov. 6).
But that was the tag titles, and not a belt which had never changed hands outside of North America.
Spoiler alert: they did it.
It’s a shocker for a number of reasons. WWE has been so invested in the Jinder Mahal WWE title reign, and we’re only a month away from their tour of the country his run was supposedly designed for. That leaves time for him to win the strap back if they want to go that route, however, and sets up a match with more sizzle for next weekend’s Survivor Series pay-per-view (PPV).
That’s right... as of right now, and there’s no reason to think this will change... Nov. 19 will feature The Beast vs. The Phenomenal One.
You can read full spoilers from SmackDown here, or you can just wait for tonight, watch what was reportedly a really good match, and start freaking out about AJ Styles vs. Brock Lesnar with the rest of the world.
