When Nia Jax took some time off from WWE last month, it was first reported as a “leave of absence” before reports started making the rounds she was unhappy with her creative direction. A series of rumors circulated, including maybe The Rock getting in her ear about how to handle her character, but Alexa Bliss, her best friend on the road, indicated she was just getting a refresher.
That’s the message Nia went with when speaking on why she was out (via The Mirror):
“Well actually I had live events off for the last couple of weeks because that's just how it worked out, for cycling and stuff, so I got a little rest from TV because I wasn't in anything storyline-wise, so I had a little rest there. But yeah, it's been great. I love what we do, I love the storytelling, especially being such a different character and obviously a different size than everybody, we get to play on that and it's always cool to see where we can go in the ring."
If that’s legitimately the case, it should be celebrated. Considering the WWE schedule, performers should absolutely be getting more time off if they aren’t involved in anything on television. Of course, one could argue that wasn’t exactly the case with Nia, but that’s a rumor for another time.
Either way, she’s back and seems to be doing well, which is all we can ask for.
Right?
