It’s been official since the last taping on Oct. 4, as WWE couldn’t keep something as big as the return of WCW’s War Games concept a secret for the better part of a month.

But the episode where it was announced finally aired tonight (Nov. 1), so everyone who wasn’t in Full Sail when William Regal revealed it as the solution to his SAnitY vs. Undisputed ERA vs. Authors of Pain and Roderick Strong chaos problem can now experience the promo and debate the format and match-up...

They didn’t waste any time tying in the history Akam, Rezar and Roddy’s manager Paul Ellering brings to the two rings-one cage affair, either:

UPDATE: Looks like everybody had a promo ready ... here’s Eric Young’s for his group:

And here’s the ERA’s:

Now that it’s all out in the open, we can begin debating whether the Triple Threat trios layout makes this a “real” War Games, or if those are only five-on-five. We can also ask if the enemy-of-my-enemies team of The Authors and Strong works, or if it’s a bad fit/too hastily thrown together.

It’s hard to not get excited by Regal screaming “WAR GAMES”, though. And the reactions from the participants - particularly SAnitY’s Alexander Wolfe and Undisputed ERA’s Adam Cole - really make it fun.

This match will headline the show we can now all officially call TakeOver: War Games. The card is almost set, as well, after the confirmation that the stellar Aleister Black vs. Velveteen Dream program gets a spot on Nov. 18 in the Toyota Center, too:

  • SAnitY vs. Undisputed ERA vs. Authors of Pain and Roderick Strong in WAR GAMES
  • Kairi Sane vs. Nikki Cross vs. Ember Moon vs. Peyton Royce in a Fatal 4Way for the Women’s championship
  • Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. Drew McIntyre (c) for the NXT title
  • Aleister Black vs. Velveteen Dream
