The match
Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens in a Hell in a Cell match that will also be a Falls Count Anywhere match in the main event of tonight’s (Sun., Oct. 8, 2017) WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view (PPV) from the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
The story
Owens was United States champion for a time, a title he lost because of some shoddy officiating. He complained about this and management’s response was to insert McMahon as guest referee. He really wasn’t much better and, in fact, the two found themselves getting physical.
That, of course, took things up a notch. It wasn’t long before Kevin Owens went full Kevin Owens and suddenly he’s saying Shane’s kids would have been better off had he not survived a helicopter crash. Then he beat up Shane’s dad, a 72-year-old man.
The McMahons want blood for this, so it’s a Hell in a Cell match. Well, that and it was the next PPV on the schedule for the SmackDown Live brand and this is a better main event than another Jinder Mahal vs. Shinsuke Nakamura match.
Oh, and they later added a Falls Count Anywhere stipulation to all this.
What to expect
As noted, they added the Falls Count Anywhere stip, which is a nice way to let fans know this thing isn’t staying inside the cage, not that anyone thought it would anyway. It’s also a Shane McMahon Hell in a Cell match, so it isn’t unreasonable to expect some form of temporary insanity.
It goes down tonight. Follow along with us right here on Cageside Seats.
