On-screen, online and on the road, Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss have been pretty inseparable throughout their WWE careers. So with Jax and her absence from the company the subject of media scrutiny and fan speculation, and a pay-per-view (PPV) for her to promote this weekend, it was only a matter of time before someone asked the Raw Women’s champ about what’s going on with her friend.
The New York Post did the asking, and here’s what Alexa had to say:
“We have talked about it a lot.
Whatever she is going through, I wouldn’t necessarily call it a leave of absence. She’s taking some time off because our schedule it very grueling. It’s very, very demanding. There are times where you are run down and your body can’t do it anymore and you get sick or you get injured from it and you get tired.
So, I feel like everyone needs a reset every once in a while. In NXT I took a few resets and it was never like public knowledge, but we all need them. We all take them once in a while. I am happy when she comes back. I feel like everyone needs that refresher week or refresher moment.”
Does Bliss think Nia will return to WWE?
“Absolutely, no doubt in my mind.”
Now, Alexa is a friend, but she’s also representing the company, and they have been trying to downplay Jax’s situation (according to Wrestling Observer). Nia could just be burnt out, or Bliss might be saying what she thinks/has been told to say to give her friend and her employer time to work whatever issues they have between them out.
Heck, those things aren’t even mutually exclusive. She could be burnt out and in negotiations for more money/different booking.
Hopefully, “whatever she is going through” gets resolved to everyone’s satisfaction soon. Sounds like Little Miss Bliss is confident it will.
