As John “Hannibal” Smith always said, “I love it when a plan comes together”.
In this case, we don’t know how the plan will come together, but Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required but recommended) and others are probably loving that their reports and rumors appear to be coming together on WWE screens.
While nobody seems to know what the result of the Survivor Series showdown between Universal champ Brock Lesnar and WWE champ Jinder Mahal will be, it’s happening - just as Meltzer said it would.
Win, lose or schmoz, we’ve also been told to expect Finn Bálor to serve as a future Lesnar opponent. And in an interview the Irishman gave to the UK’s Metro Sport last week, Finn was already laying the groundwork:
“Listen, I don’t shy away from a fight for one second and I would absolutely love to be in there with Brock Lesnar.
Once I handle Bray Wyatt, I need to be going after the Universal Championship which I was never beaten for.
Yes, Brock Lesnar is the current champion, but make sure you don’t forget that I relinquished the title due to injury, I was never beaten, and I definitely think that I deserve a title shot.”
The Observer says Finn vs. Brock will likely happen at Royal Rumble 2018 in Philadelphia. And if Dave is right about that, there’s no reason to think he won’t be right about the next step for The Beast Incarnate - putting over Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans.
You as excited about this plan as Bálor seems to be?
