Jinder Mahal is out here talking up matches with Brock Lesnar and John Cena

WWE.com

Never let if be said WWE champion Jinder Mahal doesn’t aim for the stars.

He chalks his entire second run with the company up to believing in himself and working hard to make his vision a reality. And while his run with SmackDown’s top prize has received mixed reviews, six months with the belt is definitely an accomplishment worth being proud of.

And Mahal’s still striving. On a press junket over the past week to promote his headlining role on the company’s tour of India in a couple months, The Modern Day Maharajah talked up his current goals... and teased a couple of big matches in the process.

In telling ESPN his goal is to “go down in history as one of the greatest of all time”, Jinder also started planting seeds for his rumored Survivor Series match-up in answering a question about his personal dream opponents:

“For right now, how about Brock Lesnar. The WWE champion versus the Universal Champion. That's blockbuster of a match.”

He also looked farther down the road in a Facebook Live interview (h/t Pro Wrestling Sheet), lining up a big money showdown for next April - a time when he still believes he’ll be wearing gold:

“At WrestleMania 34, I would like to face John Cena for my WWE Championship.”

It could happen, because I fully intend on being WWE Champion come WrestleMania and even after WrestleMania. So, John Cena, let’s say this is an official challenge to you.”

Reports are the Lesnar match will happen, and it makes sense as a way to get him to New Dehli as the WWE titleholder.

Is his reign really going to run past those house shows? Is a ‘Mania match with Cena something the company would consider as part of their efforts to conquer the Indian market, or is Mahal pushing his luck?

Hey, none of us thought he’d make it this far. So... who knows?
