Nobody gave The Boss much of a chance on the Royal Rumble Kickoff.
And why would you? Charlotte Flair injured her leg in their Roadblock: End of the Line title bout and then Nia Jax targeted it the next night on Raw. Even when Sasha came to the ring to confront Nia to set up their match tonight (Jan. 29) in San Antonio, it was on a crutch.
Michael Cole played up the fact that Banks wasn’t even wearing a knee brace, but she took the action to Jax at the bell. Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to ground Nia, and eventually was thrown down to the mat by her larger opponent. The plucky Sasha kept fighting, but she made the mistake of putting both her legs up to counter a corner splash. Jax smashed the Boss’ injured left knee with a forearm.

After dodging a charge, Banks went up top and decided to attack with her wounded appendage. After connecting with double knees, the Boss was too hurt to cover. A short time later, Jax hit her pop-up Samoan Drop and the match was over.

Their existing storyline, but this felt like filler more than a big step on the road to WrestleMania. We’ll see how they follow it up tomorrow on Raw.
