Earlier today, my colleague Sean Rueter passed along word that various reports from pro wrestling media pegged the Royal Rumble 2017 pay-per-view (PPV) as taking place in San Antonio, Texas, with an official announcement expected for next week.

Indeed, WWE confirmed just a short time ago that San Antonio will, in fact, play host to next year’s big event on Sun., Jan. 29, 2017. What’s more, just like in 1997, the show will be held at the Alamodome.

Tickets for Royal Rumble 2017 will be available starting Friday, October 14, at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. CT through all Ticketmaster outlets, www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000. All tickets are subject to service charges and facility fees.
It’s also been confirmed that the Royal Rumble will feature 30 wrestlers from both Raw and SmackDown Live with the winner receiving a title shot at WrestleMania 33.
