John Cena costs Dean Ambrose the WWE title on SmackDown Live

@WWE

When Dean Ambrose defeated John Cena in the main event of SmackDown Live last week, he was awarded a WWE world championship match against AJ Styles on SmackDown Live this week. It’s worth questioning why it matters either which way, considering both will be involved in a title match that also includes John Cena at No Mercy on Oct. 9 in Sacramento, California.

Either way, here they were.

And Cena maybe cost Ambrose winning the title back.

That’s because right at the finish Styles attacked Cena while he was sitting on commentary before going for a Phenomenal Forearm. He didn’t want to let it stand, so he got in the ring and interrupted a three count for Dean, who responded by also blasting Cena.

Styles, naturally, took advantage and scored the victory to retain his title. Cena, of course, laid both out after the match and stood tall with the WWE world championship to close the show.
