WWE SMACKDOWN RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR AUG. 9
Chris here. Let's do this.

WWE Signature and we cut to Randy Orton arriving when he is interviewed about his upcoming match with Alberto Del Rio and staying focused on Brock Lesnar. Orton has known the legend of Lesnar for 15 years....but Orton IS the Legend Killer. Lesnar may be all big-and-bad, but one RKO could end it.
On cue, Del Rio comes in and laughs about "Viperville." Orton promises him a VIP tour through Viperville.

Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan come out to start the show.
Bray is here to make something clear: last week, he did not fall to Dolph Ziggler; instead, he was a victim of Ziggler's desperation and deception when his face was ran into the exposed turnbuckle). After that, everything went black.
However, Ziggler does not understand that fact that Bray is a god, and Ziggler can never kill a god. Bray tells Ziggler to ask Dean Ambrose - he knows real well. Bray reminds them both that SmackDown is his show.
Now? It is Bray Wyatt against the whole damn world.
At this moment, Dean Ambrose interrupts and laughs about the idea that Bray is a victim...it really is a new era. Ambrose says that Bray doesn't sound like the eater of worlds; he just sounds like a big baby.
Ambrose reminds Bray that SmackDown belongs to the WWE Universe and him. Bray laughs at this, inviting Ambrose into the ring for the inevitable 2-on-1 beatdown that Ambrose sees coming.
Dolph Ziggler comes out now, walks by Ambrose, and attacks Bray. Needless to say, he is dispatched quickly, causing Ambrose to come in for a save.....until he eats an inadvertent superkick from Ziggler as he was being saved from Sister Abigail. A stunned Ziggler superkicks Rowan before eating Sister Abigail.

Backstage, Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler argue about what just happened. They seem ready to brawl until Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon separate them and tell them to channel their rage as they team up to face Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan.

American Alpha vs Mikey O'Shea & Mike Vega
But wait a minute. The Ascension comes out for some reason.....and so do The Vaudevillains....and The Hype Bros.
Quick squash. American Alpha win.
American Alpha def Those Guys
Afterward, the other tag teams come in and an impromptu battle royal starts with American Alpha standing tall.

Renee Young interviews The Miz and Maryse. Renee tries to stay serious, but The Miz turns the focus toward Maryse and her beauty. Miz and Maryse tease making out right over the table, but Renee interrupts by starting an Apollo Crews video package.
We get back from the video, and Miz and Maryse are now laying on the table as Renee tries to keep things serious...until Miz compares Maryse to a modern-day Aphrodite before some smooching ensues. Renee somehow manages to keep a stone face before ending the interview.

Becky Lynch vs Eva Marie
Yeah.....nope. Instead Eva Marie has a wardrobe malfunction and can't compete...yep
So Eva leaves and the match doesn't start. Becky is interviewed is is pissed, saying that she will fight no matter what. She wants to fight, and she isn't leaving until she does fight.
Who answers the challenge? One Alexa Bliss, who is in ass-kicking mode.

Becky Lynch vs Alexa Bliss
This was a decent one that saw Bliss get the win with Twisted Bliss when Eva Marie recovered from her malfunction enough to make a distraction (and a whole new entrance).
Alexa Bliss def Becky Lynch
After, Eva is interviewed and says that she feels bad that Becky couldn't face her tonight. Never fear, Eva will be ready to go next week.

Randy Orton vs Alberto Del Rio
This kinda happened. Orton won by DQ when Del Rio hit him with a chair.
Randy Orton def Alberto Del Rio by DQ
After, Del Rio hits a couple more chair shots and sets up for more in the ring until RKO.

Backstage, Rhyno is muscling up when Heath Slater comes in and begs Rhyno to let him win tonight. Rhyno reminds him that he won an election in Michigan and has constituents to impress. Heath continues begging to no avail.
________________________________________
Rhyno vs Heath Slater
This was a quick one that saw some obligatory West Virginia jokes (saying this as a former West Virginian) from commentary because of course.. Slater ALMOST get the win with a cheap, ropy roll-up, but the referee caught it. After unsuccessfully arguing, Slater walked right into a Gore.
Rhyno def Heath Slater.

Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan have a backstage promo. Bray tells Rowan to destroy. Rowan tells us to run.
Backstage, Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon finish getting a contract ready for Heath Slater when Heath comes in, rages, and quits.
________________________________________
Carmella vs Natalya
Before the match, Carmella vows to get revenge on Natalya. Natalya tries to blindside her, but Carmella is ready and takes control early before the bell rings.
This heatless one just sorta happened. In the end, Carmella somehow locked in her leglock sleeper thing for the submission win.
Carmella def Natalya

After a hype video of John Cena vs AJ Styles, we go backstage to Baron Corbin beating up Kalisto for costing him a shot at the Intercontinental Title.

Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose vs Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan
For a match like this, it was about as textbook and predictable as you'd expect. After Ambrose botched a suicide dive, Ziggler superkicked Rowan for the win.
Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose def Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan
After, Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds on Ziggler, and the crowd approves as the show ends.
