WWE Extreme Rules 2016 match card, rumors

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Extreme Rules event set to take place on Sun., May 22, 2016, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. For the first time in a number of years, this event won't act as the follow up to WrestleMania.

We're now just two weeks away from the show and here's what the card looks like currently:

- Roman Reigns vs. AJ Styles (WWE world heavyweight championship)

This was announced before the end of the Payback PPV where Reigns retained after two match restarts. The idea now is it will be an Extreme Rules match so now that anything goes, perhaps Styles -- and his friends, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows -- will have the edge, though Reigns -- and his family, The Usos -- are not to be underestimated.

- Charlotte vs. Natalya (Women's championship)

This was made a submission match, despite the fact that they just ran a screwjob finish on a submission at Payback. The added wrinkle is that Ric Flair has been banned from ringside.

- The New Day vs. The Vaudevillains (Tag team championships)

When Enzo Amore suffered an injury during the tag team tournament finals at Payback, The Vaudevillains were awarded the victory by default. This is where they'll get their shot at the tag titles.

That's the card so far, though there are some other rumors for matches such as:

- Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose
- Kalisto vs. Rusev
- The Miz vs. Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro
