WWE SmackDown results, live blog (May 26, 2016): Two title matches!

WWE SmackDown comes waltzing back into our lives tonight (May 26, 2016) from Norfolk, Virginia with a taped show on the USA Network featuring the fallout show from the Extreme Rules pay-per-view (PPV) that went down this past Sunday night Newark, New Jersey.

Because SmackDown is a taped show, you can simply go read the spoilers to know everything that happens (find them by clicking here). We will provide results below.

You can use this space to discuss all the events as they occur, however, and it's probably going to enhance your viewing experience. In fact, I know it is because we're a lot of fun around here.

Enjoy the show!

SMACKDOWN RESULTS

Then. Now. Forever.

The show starts with Michael Cole in the ring with a Money in the Bank briefcase on a pedestal. He welcomes Dean Ambrose to the ring. Dean talks about how he told Jericho he was doing to break him in the Asylum and he did. Cole asks him what he's willing to do to with the MITB case.

Before Dean can say anything, Kevin Owens interrupts. First, he's upset that Cole is on SmackDown and insists he's out of the ring by the time he gets down there. (Cole obliges.) He states he's going to win MITB just like he would have won the Mania ladder match if it weren't for--

Sami Zayn interrupts before KO can finish that thought. Zayn asks if what KO was going to say is if it weren't for "the bane of your existence, Sami Zayn." Sami admits he's let his problems with Owens cost him too much already, including at Extreme Rules. He tells Ambrose that he's not going to stop him either.

Then Alberto Del Rio interrupts (yes, it's one of those segments.) ADR says he knows what it's like win MITB and cash it in. Sami reminds him he's not in the match. He has to beat Zack Ryder first. This then breaks down when KO clubs Sami from behind. During this brawl, Sami almost hits Dean with a Helluva Kick but stops himself as KO slides out of the ring. Dean then puts Sami in the Dirty Deeds set up but then let's him go.

Alberto Del Rio vs. Zack Ryder in a MITB qualifier

Ryder starts out quick going at ADR, but ADR turns it around quickly on the Long Islander. Del Rio has control for a bit until Zack turns it around with a flapjack as the show goes to break. When the show returns, ADR is back in control. They show a replay from the commercial break where ADR hit his stomp onto Ryder as Ryder was hanging from the barricade.

Once again, Ryder turns thing around with a face buster. However he misses a corner drop kick and ADR kicks him in the head but only gets a 2 count on Zack. ADR goes for the arm breaker but Ryder hits a jaw breaker and thena Broski Boot for a near fall. However, he misses the Rough Ryder and ADR sets Zack up in the corner for his corner stomp. ADR misses the stomp and Zack hits a Rough Ryder! ADR is able to roll out of the ring to avoid getting pinned.

Zack tosses him back in the ring and goes for the cover, but ADR locks in the arm breaker and Zack has to tap.

They play a video recap of Rollins return and his rivalry with Roman.

Big Cass & Enzo/Dudley Boyz segment

Enzo and Big Cass come out. As Enzo is doing is bit, the Dudleys disgracefully interrupt him. Zo still drops some lines on them though. Cass tells the Boyz that it looks like the Dudleys have a problem with them, but luckily they are problem solvers and they'll take them right out of the equation. He then challenges them to a match.

D-Von accepts and they walk down to the ring. Bubba then stops them and tells them not tonight but on Raw. Then they walk off as Cass spells it out for them.

Renee Young interviews Lana and Rusev. Lana is upset Renee didn't address Rusev as the greatest US champ of all time. Rusev says tonight's US title rematch will be the same match with the same results. Kalisto is a little baby and after Rusev crushes the little mosquito, he'll never be able to fly again.

Kalisto vs. Rusev (c) (w/Lana) for the US championship

Kalisto starts out quick but when trying a springboard off the top rope, Rusev just head butts the guy to knock him down. Rusev beats up Kalisto through the commercial break and it continues when SmackDown returns. Kalisto actually tries slamming Rusev, despite a back back, and that fails miserably.

However, he continues to fight back and actually slams Rusev the next time! (Does he win Rusev's car?) Rusev is in shock and Kalisto is able to roll up the champ for a near fall. Kalisto has life and he uses his speed based offense to take it to the Bulgarian.

The challenger has a good run of offense. He goes for the Salida Del Sol, but Rusev is too strong and puts Kalisto in the Tree of Woe. Rusev goes for a diving head butt but misses as Kalisto pulls himself up. Rusev tosses him off the top rope but misses a corner splash in the opposite corner and Kalisto goes up top again. He goes for a 450 splash but Rusev gets his knees up.

The US Champ then nails a nasty kick to the back of Kalisto's head and put shim in another nasty Accolade. Kalisto has no choice but to tap.

Rusev def. Kalisto via submission

After the match, Rusev goes for some more punishment on Kalisto but Titus O'Neil makes the save! Titus shouts that if Rusev wants to be a big man, they should fight right now. Rusev of course does not and leaves.

Nattie def. Dana Brooke via DQ

After the match, Nattie has to fight off both Dana and Charlotte. She is not successful.

Renee Young interviews AJ Styles. He says he's not sure what's next for him.

Golden Truth vs. Breeze-ango

There are "Golden Truth" specific "What's up?" lyrics!

Breeze allows Fandango to peek in the selfie. That's serious from the Gorgeous One right there.

R-Truth is in the match for a bit as the face in peril. Fandango knocks Goldust off the apron so when Truth is finally able to tag, he's not there. Goldy trust to get in the ring (without tagging) and the ref stops him. As the ref is distracted, Breeze comes in and hits a Supermodel Kick on Truth and Fandango gets the 1-2-3.

Breeze-agno def. Golden Truth

Golden Truth are now 0-2.

Backstage, Goldust gives Truth a pep talk. Breeze-ango walk by and just laugh in the faces of the two losers. They leave and Dust continues his pep talk about how the WWE Universe wants and needs the Golden Truth.

Seth Rollins' promo

Seth Rollins comes to the ring. With less than 20 minutes of the show, we can be assured we're not getting a classic drawn out Rollins promo.

He asks the crowd they missed him and they pop for him. He tells them he wished he could stay the same to them and then just peaces! That was a short promo.

Cesaro vs. the Miz (c) (w/Maryse) for the Intercontinental Championship

Cesaro is the aggressor early on in the match. The show goes to break early on and when it returns, Miz is in control of Cesaro and working on his bad shoulder. After taking it from the Miz for a bit, Cesaro fights back with some uppercuts. He tosses the Miz into the corner with just one arm as he sells his shoulder injury.

The champ goes back to work on the shoulder and hits a kneeling DDT for a near fall. While Miz has the ref distracted, Maryse unwraps the top turnbuckle pad. The ref replaces it and ties it back on. Meanwhile, Cesaro is in control. He reverses a Figure Four into a smack package but the ref wasn't in position in time and when he finally saw it, Miz was able to kick out at 2.

Cesaro locks in the Sharpshooter in the middle of the ring, but eventually, the Miz is able to crawl to the rope for the break. After some back and forth, Cesaro goes for the swing but Miz slides out of the ring to escape it. He goes to grab his title, calls his wife, and looks to leave.... but Cesaro meets him with a nasty uppercut! Cesaro tosses him in the ring, hits a cross body, and gets a near fall.

Cesaro goes for an uppercut in the corner, but the Miz sidesteps and takes the turnbuckle cover with him. Cesaro goes shoulder first into the exposed turnbuckle and Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale for the 1-2-3.

Miz def. Cesaro
