This Thursday's episode of SmackDown (which will be taped Tuesday night) is shaping up to be a big one, with not one, but two title matches. Prior to Monday's RAW main event, WWE announced that The Miz would defend his Intercontinental Championship against Cesaro and that Kalisto would receive his rematch for the United States Championship against Rusev.
On Monday night, Cesaro defeated the Miz in a non-title Money in the Bank qualifier, earning him the right to challenge Miz to a singles title match, even though he was the man to take the pinfall during Sunday night's Fatal 4-Way IC title match at Extreme Rules.
Kalisto was the United States Champion heading into Extreme Rules, but a brutal Accolade from Rusev came after far too much punishment to Kalisto's back. Rusev is now in his second United States Championship reign. Thursday's bout will constitute Kalisto's guaranteed rematch (if WWE is still holding to that sometimes-mandatory rule).
