Monday night's episode of RAW is set to feature five qualifier matches for the right to compete in the Money in the Bank ladder match at the upcoming pay-per-view of the same name. Chris Jericho managed to score a victory over the "New Era" as he earned his spot in the MITB match by defeating a vulnerable Apollo Crews.
Earlier in the evening, Renee Young was interviewing Crews backstage when Apollo was jumped by a very angry Sheamus, who had lost his own MITB qualifying match against Sami Zayn. Sheamus brutalized Crews while yelling about how the "New Era" wasn't going to replace him.
Crews was still feeling the effects of that beatdown when he came out to face Jericho in their qualifier. Jericho himself wasn't operating at 100 percent, as he was covered in bandages after being sent into thumbtacks by Dean Ambrose at Extreme Rules on Sunday night.
Crews, in fact, began targeting the bandages, earning praise from JBL for his ring smarts. Sheamus was shown watching the match on a monitor backstage, definitely interested in who would be earning the third spot in the MITB match. Crews at one point went for his finisher, but Jericho reversed it into the Walls of Jericho. Crews managed to make it to the ropes to break the hold, but was caught with a Lionsault in an ugly-looking spot and later ate a Codebreaker as Jericho picked up the pinfall victory.
Money in the Bank -- the seventh installment of the PPV event to be presented by WWE since the MITB ladder match has been removed from the WrestleMania lineup -- will take place on June 19 at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
