A lot of people are asking why former NXT Women's champion Sasha Banks not only isn't in the WWE Women's title picture, but hasn't even been on television for the past couple weeks.
Initial reports from from the Wrestling Observer said she was being held off Raw and SmackDown for "storyline reasons". Most interpreted this to mean she was going to challenge Charlotte for the belt, but not yet... meaning she'd reappear in time to build a program for SummerSlam this August.
That was all supposition based of Dave Meltzer's report, however.
Yesterday, Squared Circle Sirens ran with a scoop they got from a source saying Banks is injured. They didn't have specifics, but pointed to a "something to do with her head" that occurred during a live show on May 15.
On the 15th, Sasha took part in a six-woman tag where she partnered with Paige & Becky Lynch against Lana, Eva Marie & Dana Brooke. There weren't any cries of "injury" from folks in attendance, at least that we've been able to track down.
Into this mix, Meltzer returned. When asked about the injury on Twitter, he replied:
She got kneed in the head by a ref https://t.co/U7Xh038gO0

This version of events was also floated by a redditor calling themselves an "insider" on r/SquaredCircle yesterday.
Far from the first time The Boss has been missing from television and/or house shows with a reported injury, in the past, she's returned in relatively short order. And even if she is dealing with a head injury, that doesn't mean she isn't also being held out to position for a title shot. Her absence from Raw and SmackDown pre-dates the 15th, after all.
Time will tell what's next for Sasha, even if we never find out the real answers for not being used much this month.
We'll keep you posted.
