When Finn Balor lost his NXT championship to Samoa Joe, rumors and reports were popping up everywhere that he was headed for the main roster in no time. That only intensified when his old friends, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, whom he was actively recruiting on social media, made their debut on Monday Night Raw. As of this writing, Finn Watch 2016 continues.
Although it's gotten less play but is arguably just as interesting, Bayley also lost her NXT championship and was briefly the subject of rumors of a main roster call up, though those dissipated quickly. Considering what she's accomplished in developmental, however, what reason could they possibly have to keep her there?
According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required but recommended), it's because "they don't have another female babyface star who can take her place."
That's ... interesting, to say the least, especially considering she lost the title to a fellow babyface star in Asuka. The NXT roster page at WWE.com lists the following as active members (though it's worth noting Emma has been called up and is working on the main roster now):
- Alexa Bliss
- Asuka
- Billie Kay
- Carmella
- Emma
- Eva Marie
- Mandy Rose
- Nia Jax
- Peyton Royce
It's clear they don't have anyone -- outside of Asuka, of course -- on Bayley's level right now but is keeping her there going to help change that?
We shall see.
