According to this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required but recommended), WWE's recent spate of releases could have listed one more name.
Unlike the situation with Santino Marella, where it was assumed the parting of ways was mutually agreed upon but where we found out later it was more of a cut, it looks like the ending of Jay "Christian" Reso's deal was just a technicality.
The Observer says Christian was released from his active performer's contract only. Seeing as how he hasn't wrestled in the company (nor have their been whispers of him working in-ring for anyone else) since suffering a concussion more than two years ago, the release is seen as a formality.
He has a separate deal to produce and star in The Edge & Christian Show That Totally Reeks of Awesomeness for WWE Network.
No word on if that deal is part of a standard Legends contract, or where we stand on doing what I and other Peeps want to see - putting the former World Heavyweight champ in the Hall of Fame. But his remaining in the fold is probably a good sign that will happen eventually.
Thanks for the memories, Capt. Charisma.
