After Kevin Owens defeated Sami Zayn in the latest chapter of their rivalry at tonight's (Sun., May 1, 2016) Payback pay-per-view (PPV) at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, he did an interview with Byron Saxton saying he would be going after his Intercontinental championship once again. That led into sitting in on commentary for the next match, relevant to his interests: The Miz defending that very title against Cesaro.
The match was, predictably, good. It had a finish to drive you mad, though.
That's because Owens, who was being an unbearable ass on commentary, was jumped by Zayn late in the match. They started brawling on the outside while Cesaro was getting the better of Miz in the ring, including a Giant Swing and a crippler crossface. While he had the submission locked in, Miz tapped out.
Only the referee wasn't paying attention because he was dealing with Owens and Zayn fighting on the apron.
This, of course, led to Miz getting a roll up win, much to the dismay of fans everywhere. Chaos ensued, as a big brawl between all of them broke out and Owens was the last man standing, as Maryse helped her husband bail out.
