During Monday night's episode of RAW in London, Shane McMahon -- who is still in charge of the show and continues to put together fan-pleasing matches, regardless of his loss at WrestleMania 32 -- was the Dean Ambrose's guest on the Ambrose Asylum. After being interrupted by several parties, Shane announced he is officially adding two more matches to the WWE Payback pay-per-view on May 1.
Both matches have long been suspected, or at least rumored, but now we have confirmation. First up, Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho will go head to head at Payback. The feud has its roots in the cancellation/hijacking of Jericho's "Highlight Reel" segment, which Ambrose replaced with his own segment, "The Ambrose Asylum." Since Jericho prizes his ego above all else, obviously he's not prepared to be upstaged by the Lunatic Fringe.
The other match is more anticipated by the diehard fans and has a longer history with a lot more bad blood behind it. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn will finally meet in their first one-on-one match on the main WWE roster. The two are eternal best friends and blood enemies, destined to do this forever. Expect hockey punches and lots of emotion. Also expect one of the best matches on the card.
The full announced card for WWE Payback 2016 so far:
- WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. AJ Styles
- WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: The Miz (c) vs. Cesaro
- Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose
- Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn
Certainly looks like that card is shaping up nicely after a slow start.
