It was pretty much a foregone conclusion, but between his history of amazing recoveries and his frequent teases on social media, it was hard to completely write John Cena off from WrestleMania 32 next month in Arlington, Texas.
But as part of the crew announcing WrestleMania 33 for Orlando next Spring, the 15-time World champ confirmed it himself:
"For the first time in a decade in a half, this year I will be watching. #WrestleMania means the world to me." -@JohnCena @CitrusBowl
— WWE WrestleMania (@WrestleMania) March 8, 2016
He also reminded us why he's missed. In a few minutes, Cena connected with jokes, spoke earnestly of his passion for the business and effectively sold Mania as a spectacle everyone should experience.
As part of that, he spoke of sitting at home watching Raw and SmackDown and yelling at the television. So it still seems likely he'll find a way to get involved in this year's event... but not as a wrestler for the first time since 2003.
